–Background Information-
ERA is sponsoring a family of 5 Syrian Refugees living in Lebanon. Their application was submitted October 2024. The wait for application to be processed is around 24 months.
The family consists of Grandma, Mom, Dad and two girls 5 and 9.
Since October 2024 ERA has begun an emergency cash fundraising stream to help them survive through the instability in the region. They have had to relocate 3 times due to bomb threats and were able to do so with the support of cash donations from individuals and organizations in the community and ERA individual donors.
They are currently unable to work or have any means of supporting themselves. They are subject to discrimination and cannot secure legal working papers.
Official humanitarian organizations are overwhelmed and despite ERA and the family’s great efforts to contact and secure some help from them, it has not been possible.
Situation is so unstable they only go out around a very limited area in the neighbourhood and the girls are being homeschooled. They are all working on learning some English through the internet.
The funds that ERA has been able to send them go directly towards their housing, medicines and food needs,
We are in touch with them constantly and get updates on their situation. They are extremely grateful for the help they are getting while they wait for the application to be processed.
We have had events like a craft sale, community dinner and a cooking class. These events are cash donations and we are unable to issue tax receipts as the donation is going directly to the cash fund supporting the family.
